Ancient and Accepted Rite

Rose Croix

The Rose Croix is one of the most inspiring Orders in Freemasonry, blending symbolism, scripture, and fellowship to guide Companions on a journey of spiritual discovery. Rooted in the principles of Faith, Hope, and Charity, it offers a profound extension of the Craft.

A Path of Faith, Hope, and Charity

What is Rose Croix About?

The Rose Croix forms part of the Ancient and Accepted Rite, where members are ‘Perfected’ as Princes Rose Croix of Heredom. Known as the 18° of the Rite, it is a degree rich in symbolism and reflection. Drawing on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, it invites Companions to deepen their understanding of morality, spirituality, and the Masonic journey.

Membership and Progression

Any Brother who has been a Master Mason for at least six months under UGLE is eligible to join, provided he is comfortable with the Christian basis of the Order. Membership begins in a local Chapter, with the opportunity to progress through offices, culminating in the role of Most Wise Sovereign. Higher degrees, conferred by the Supreme Council, recognise commitment and service to the Order.

Ceremony and Fellowship

The Rose Croix ceremony is a deeply moving experience, filled with scriptural allusions and symbolic lessons that encourage personal reflection. At its heart is the commandment “to love one another.” Meetings conclude with a simple feast of bread and wine, a tradition that strengthens companionship and unity among members.
